Long time lurker but this is my first post..this grow will be for educational purposes basically plan to.grow one or 2 plants under cfls in an old timey speaker cabinet...looked at other types of lights but i figure cfl becuase i dont want to much change in light bill n i dont want anything putting off too much heat..i dont smoke at all..i probaly will test some ..but this grow is for educational purposes and future ones will be for extra cash..question is is there any soil that i can use that has enough nutrients for an entire autoflower grow ?for this first one im looking at quick one strain..big enough for 2 small plants in the cabinet..so im hoping to at least get an ounce

Should be an interesting experience for you. The ladies will most likely be musical. I know some growers in here use a medium that only requires water for the grow. Hopefully one will come by soon and answer that question for you. Good luck.

@hecno Can teach organics, but water only will be very hard. Not sure if there is even such a soil. You will need ph down for sure unless using RO water, calmag for sure if using RO. My HappyFrog makes me to around day 40 without added nutes, but come flower you will need a bloom booster.
Others have used HappyFrog and fox farms OF mixed and made it through okay. But ph pen is a must, along with ph down.

also, make sure u get/uze the right color temp with ur cfl'z...6500k, or daylight, for veg, and 2700k, or soft/warm white for flower anything u need, jus give a shout

Welcome to AFN! There are several options for soils that are water only. If you are looking to just buy a bag and use it, Build-a-Soil has several different water only soil mixes. And they are actually 30% off right now. There is also the KIS brand soils and a few others. Just know that with this being your 1st grow, and using a water only soil mix, that when problems (deficiencies/toxicity) arise, you will have little to no control over them. So its important you have a grasp on, or understanding of organic growing if/wheb that happens.
Those soils definitely exsist. And when using them there is no need to ph anything.. So no need for ph down when growing in a water only soil.

One of the best things you can do for your self is have a look at the -- Organic Growing Thread -- You will get all the info you need , But in saying that all ways ask questions as we will be there to help . Water only grow , simple answer - Yes - But , there is always a but . You have to understand how to grow . So come on over and start the path to a whole new world .
