Hello everyone,
First time grower here, planning on maybe growing a Auto Northern Lights, or Samsara Thunder Bloody Mary , but not decided on the seed just yet.

I have some 'Multi purpose compost soil with added John Innes' - will this be fine for the plant from start to finish? My plan is to plant the germinated seed into a small pot, the after about 2 weeks plant it into a much larger pot.

I have also read online that Autos require NO Vegetative food atall - is this right?
If so, Im thinking about getting some Bio Bizz Bio Bloom for the flowering period, is this good for autos?
If they should have some food during vegetative stage (the John Innes in the soil is some ferts mixed in..) should I use Bio Grow?

Any help would be great
thanks.

i use west plus with ji but i start in a starter cube (root riots) before planting straight in. You might be ok but i would get some seedling compost dig a hole in your final pot and fill with seedling compost so as they grow they hit the full strength ji.
check my sig for biobizz advice also stick with more proven strains companys such as joint doctors, short stuff lowlife and the shop from here as this will give you less issues on yor first grow

cheers, i think i might follow your advice and put a bit of seedling compost into the large pot with jl. is it advisable to plant straight into the large pot with autos then?
also, still unsure if i need to feed it any veg food during vegitation. could it do without and just have the jl, then a bit of bloom for the flowering?
thanks

it is advised you plant into final pots for me 2g or you could do the tiered method were you use a small cup of starter compost then remove the bottom and plant into the final pot.
you could just use bloom but if you read my sig its tells you you can use fish mix as a veg and bloom from week 2-3 onwards

Hi Fella,

I've used John Innes and also Westland + John Innes and found the Westland’s was far to hot and ph was far to low at PH 4.5, bought 3 bags from B+Q to find them burning all my seedlings and seriously stunting their growth, had to flush soil before I used it, Would never entertain Westland’s again. I use John Innes seedling mix in small peat pots, if you place your peat pot in a small container with a little water, then your soil and pot will stay damp, allowing the root come through the side of the pot. When you see the root tip simply transfer the seedling with the peat pot into a 9 litre or so pot and use John Innes no2, This way the seedling isn’t put into any shock when transplanting. Normally 9 litres of compost is enough for at least 3-4 weeks of veg, however I would purchase some grow and also use a tiny amount throughout bloom to avoid any deficiencies such as yellowing leaves.

I grew Thunder bloody Mary last year in hydro (2.5oz) and currently growing Supersonic Cristal Storm (2-3oz) plus Kiss dragon (4.5oz) and el aquaria (seedling) and very impressed with Samsara so far!

peat pots restrict growth there's many threads on here discussing it I'm using westy now like i said you start in a seedling cube or seedling mix before planting and i have had no issues i have planted 9 seeds this week and only 1 is showing a slight burn which i think is off my light

Well maybe for some people but I've never experainced restrictive growth, You need to keep the pot moist at all times not hard then sat in water, peat pot is very soft and easly ripped this way, pot then must be placed in soil AS SOON as the tinyest tip appears.

Iv yeilded way over 5 oz before with 4 week veg for photo and 3.5oz from a Auto ak47 and 2.5oz from others on a regular basis under 250 HPS using this method

Again Westland soil with added JI is far to hot and too low PH (cheak it your self), Might work with some strains but Its not recommend for beginners (who can not read plant like us yet), moreover westlands might have changed as every bag can, Just that John Innes is bang on 6.5 ph everytime. Do a Search for my post on roll it up over a year ago, leaves twist and then die due to lock out

hey,
cheers guys for the help so far.

i just had a proper look into the soil i already have here - it apparently has a ph level of 5.5-6.0. will this be wrong for growing my Samsara Bloody Mary? I'm going to buy some John Innes potting soil, should I also buy John Innes 2 which has a ph of 6.0-7.0? Would that be more suitable or would the soil with 5.5-6.0 ph be fine?

Any help is great!
Cheers.

6.0-7.0 is the better... but the other stuff could be adjusted up... if you're new... start with the 6-7 stuff.

now you'll see why

Everywhere I look seems to sell John Innes X Westland! Where do you find the kind you use?
Cheers
