Hi all,

After hours spent reading and stalking I decided to try growing some autos. This is my first grow ever.I live in Europe in not so developed Country so many things that you guys use to grow are hard to find here, so here is how my setup looks like:
20111120_222209.jpg20111120_222221.jpg20111203_222039.jpg

I know it looks primitive but its a low budget project and for now it works. I used styrofoam(polystyrene) for isolation and for reflection aluminum paper (the regular one as for cooking).
---Soil---
So basically the soil is a mix of regular soil, nutritious soil (its more black than the regular) and little stones (like sand, replacement for the perlite). I germinate directly in soil. The seeds are Big Devil and Autosativa (no-name).
---Lights---
I use 2 CFLs (they are 85W but give light as 425W,as far as I can understand 85W=425W, with 6400K each). Also I use 4 regular light bulbs for the heat they produce because its winter and it may drop to -10C and my closet is in garage without temperature control, so one of the main problems I have is the temperature issue which for now is OK because I manage to maintain temperature at around 25C. I do that with leaving the lights on 23/1 or 22/2. I am thinking to put another main light, do u have some suggestion on what type to put, maybe with some different spectrum (red perhaps).I cant find any HPS or MH because we don't have grow shops.
---Ventilation---
I only have one exhaust fan(which I still haven't turned on, maybe in flowering phase) and I plan to put a small fan inside to imitate the wind and make the plants stronger.
---H20,O2,CO2---
Recently I managed to gather some rain water and I use a pump(like in a aquarium) for filtering and bubbling the water. I put water every 2-3 days. I also made small CO2 reactor with water, yeast and sugar and put it in the closet(I change it every 3-4 days).
---Nutrition---
I still havent used any nutrition as the BIG Devil is now around 3 weeks old and the Autosativa is around 1 week old. However I am planing to start giving the Big Devil some nutrients. I have a liquid fertilizer for indoor plants with NPK ratio 8-5-6 + micro-nutrients:0,01% (B), 0,002 (Cu), 0,02% (Fe), 0,01% (Mn), 0,001% (Mo), 0,002% (Zn), should I go with this one?

So basically that's it. Thanks for reading. Every suggestion is welcome and expected :D And for the end here are some pics of the plants,BIG Devil(brown pot) 3rd week,Autosativa(black pot) 1st week: 20111217_160249.jpg20111217_154829.jpg20111217_154820.jpg20111217_154816.jpg20111217_154812.jpg
Do you think there is enough space for them in later stages? I also forgot to mention that I am planing to use some advanced grow technique such as training the branches with strings or should i go with the scrog method and when to do that?

Any suggestions about this????

hey Dr.Evil thanks for writing.

Maybe I should rip that aluminum foil off.Under the foil is the styrofoam(polystyrene) and its white, is it OK if i dont use any reflective material and leave it like that? Is reflective material a must in the process??? If I get some money I would go for the drywall, its also a good isolation..

Welcome to the New Growers forum. Sorry I initially missed your post.

I agree, I'd get rid of the aluminum foil. It doesn't reflect the light evenly and can cause hot spots. A flat white paint will do just as well.

The nutrient that you have is good for vegetative growth. I would suggest you start feeding at 1/4 strength around week 3 and work up to 1/2 strength. It will be good to use through week 6. After that you will need something different with a NPK ratio of something like 4-8-8. Once the plants go into full flower they will benefit from having more P and K and less N.

One thing I don't see mentioned is odor filtering. These plants can smell quite strong and I would strongly suggest you install a carbon filter to eliminate the odors.

Looks like a nice setup you've got. Good luck with your grow and let us know if we can help.

Here are the latest pics.In the black pot Autosativa, the brown pot BIG Devil I think they are doing Ok

Hi Muddy thanks for joining.

I understand you about the aluminum foil, I will try something else.

About the nutrients.. I read some threads where people start giving the flowering nutrients later than week 6. My plan is to maximize the vegetative growth of the plants and then when i see some buds forming i put the flowering nutrients. My point is to grow longer (10-11 weeks if possible) for better yield. Is this OK?

About the odor.. No chance of getting carbon filter coz I dont have money for that. The setup is in a garage detached from the house and nobody enters. And the garage is not air proof at all, I mean there are racks on the roof and air circulates all the time so I think there is no danger. Plus I love their odor :D
