My plants showed sex around day 15-16 (possibly sooner, at this point some already had pistils 1/2" long, never noticed preflowers), and now on day 19 they're all 6-8" tall with 5-6 sets of true leaves, plenty of nodes, and are putting off a pretty good scent. My biggest put about an inch on in less than 24 hours, so I'm pretty sure at least the one is in stretch by now, and I'm sure the others are close behind. I have recent pics in my journal if that helps (link in my sig).
I've been doing a lot of reading about this over the past few days, and can't seem to make up my mind. A lot of the things I've been reading say to switch to HPS as soon as they show sex.
My gut is telling me to stick with the MH until vertical growth slows/stops, then change over to my SHPS (this is also when I'll be switching from veg to bloom nutes). Just looking for some opinions from people who use both MH and HPS (seperately), for autoflowers, or who know more about the science behind it.
Using Eyehortilux Daylight Blue for veg, and the bulb I'll be switching to is an Eyehortilux SHPS, so it would still allow for some veg growth.
I assume maximizing veg growth with my MH would produce bigger yields, over giving them an extra couple weeks of red spectrum when they aren't actually blooming yet and will be on veg nutes for at least another 1 1/2 weeks.
They've also had 24 hour lighting up to this point, and I'm wondering if giving them 6-12 hours of darkness when I make the change could potentially shock them.
Thanks to anyone that takes the time to read.
