Best area on the plant to check trichomes?

I’ve got two plants on day 62. I’ve begun checking the trichomes and am curious if there is a “best” part or area of the plant to check for overall potency. I need to harvest as a whole and not in pieces. Top cola, upper buds, lower buds, calyx, sugar leaf, stem......? Or does it even matter?

I snip a small piece of bud from the cola and put it under my usb cam. Next check is lower on the plant etc.

i give the plant a quick whizz with a scope top,middle,bottom then run a rough % clear/cloudy/amber in my head.plant tends to mature from top to bottom.ideal world probably a 3 part harvest
i like a head only high so chop at the very first amber to show many other growers would wait 1 even 2 weeks more on the same plant not so much right and wrong,but personal preference

That’s kinda what I was thinking, piece of bud versus a leaf.

a little dilemma that I have, is both gals are gonna have to come down at the same time regardless of differences, due to needing to dry in the tent. Maybe one will amber some and the other stays cloudy, best of both worlds

The trichomes look mostly clear, so lm thinking a minimum of two more weeks to look and learn.

I’m certainly not the one to offer good info on this, and maybe someone experienced will chime in, but that’s my take on what I’ve read about it. Clear to mostly cloudy trichomes for a more upbeat, energetic, cerebral head high and cloudy to a good percentage of amber for a relaxing, medicinal body high. I’m on my first grow and the main reason for growing is the medicinal effect that I’m hoping for, cause I’m an old fart :smoking:.

Good to know, i am growing for my dad who is using gummies to combat pain, and also for my wife who uses it for anxiety. I personally don't use cannabis. Makes me too paranoid. But i love everything else about it. Such an interesting plant!

I'm usually harvesting several strains at a time so I use diff protocol per strain. Been growing over 13 yrs simply to furnish my meds for ms and assorted pains that come with age.
I try to harvest when trics are all cloudy with a sprinkling of amber...sometimes give a plant a week or 2 more so I'll have a couch lock option. I like a little thc in my cbd !!!
When I'm checking trics, I check several buds and kinda collate info.
