My first ever grow (4 plants) has had 4 weeks since they popped. But being my first grow I was learning as I went along. I think my PH was good. Nutes might have been light and lacking good Nitrogen. Also might have help them in solo cups a bit longer than I should before transplanting.

My plants are at 4 weeks old and about 7-8 inches tall and earlier issues addressed and they are growing great now. I am hoping they will stay in veg mode longer so there is more growth and then better yield.

I'm curious how tall an average auto typically gets before it switches to flowering so I have an idea if my grow is going to be stunted or not. I know strains and genetics makes a difference, but just on average how tall would a plant get from vegging?

My autos are usually flowering at about mid-week 4 and a height of 8-10 inches. Are you just letting them do their thing or are you using LST or other methods to create a flat, even canopy? My last Auto Cheese plant produced over 4 oz. and was only 16" tall at harvest. Thing is you cannot stop or slow down their internal clock. I continue to train thru the first 2-3 weeks of flowering on Autos too until stalks and stems get too woody to manipulate. Here is that Cheese Auto.....

Now I'm doing a 4 Auto grow in which I'm trying SCROGGING for the first time. Mid-week [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG].

awesome looking plants @5mokeySmurf

This is my first grow. I have a SCROG net setup. I was hoping to do some LST but my plants were too stressed earlier to do it. I could probably do some now, but being my first grow I'm a little nervous. I was hoping to just get more horizontal by bending branches in to the netting.

My scrog net is 8 inches above the top of the soil. And my plants are coming close to the netting. Not quite there yet. Once they hit the netting I'll tuck them under where possible.

I'm just hoping my plants will stay in veg longer and grow up to the netting so I can tuck them before they start to flower.

Do they stretch taller as they flower too? I read that they do stretch a bit when the start to flower, but I was wondering if that is really just the cola's growing vertically.

I guess what I'm trying to do is pray for more veg time, which I know is out of my control so praying won't really help. And I'm trying to find a way to get my scrog being part of this grow so that I get at least some horizontalness happening for my first grow. I'm just not sure how to go about it.

Here is a pic from outside the tent. Also a closeup of a plant.

Hell it looks like you have recovered well from early issues. I did start with some LST to get some horizontal growth running then undid the garden ties when they reached net. I'm 8" above as well. It has been recommended to me to place a second net above the 1st ( about 3 inches) when my first net is 2/3 full. Then continue to weave that one until the plants are too woody to manipulate. And yes, you still will get a good amount of growth after flowering starts; mine usually almost double in height.

You got me thinking about doing some LST while the plants are below the net still. No topping or FIM for me right now. But LST might be a really good and easy thing to do.

So I started to just bend over each plant's main steam to one side. I can't really do much more bending of branches are there is not much to work with now.

What I noticed is the lower sections are pretty bushy. I take it this could be a good time to defoiliate and trim some leaves off. Is that true? And do you know of any good tutorials on how to do that. I looked at a bunch of threads online on other sites and youtube videos and nothing seemed to be very informative and instructive.

There are a lot of tutorials on www.growweedeasy.com. I can't remember if they specifically talk in regard to Autos tho. However, any tutorials I apply from photoperiod sites I just consider what I call the "Auto Factor". Basically knowing (or guessing) how to apply it to Autos from experience. This is what I'm planning as this is my 1st Auto Scrog:

I have the one net right now 10" above soil. I'm weaving until that net is 2/3 full from the 4 plants. No more than 3 cola sites per 3" opening. At that point, I will defoliate everything below that net. Then....

I will be installing a second net about 8" - 10" above the first and as the colas grow upward give no more than 2 per 3" opening or less if I can.

Like I said this is my plan as I have never scrogged Autos before. But I know they continue to grow vegetatively through the first 3-4 weeks of flowering so it is making sense to me that it may yield better.

Well, rant over, sorry if I bored anyone.....
