I recently ran 5 Dinafem Cheese XXL autos. All five came out nicely, but one in particular had a super cheesy, skunky smell and flavor. The smell kind of reminds me of the artificial beef flavoring they use on potato chips, which I know sounds weird, but it's lovely.

As I'm smoking it I've realized that some of the lower buds are seeded. I haven't found a single seed in any of the other plants, so I'm 99% sure this plant hermied at some point and seeded itself. I didn't spot any bananas/balls while it was growing but I know they can be easy to miss. It did go through some stress towards the end of it's life.

I'm saving the seeds I find. I know that if I grew them out it would have the same hermie trait, but I can live with that as it's only a few buds that are seeded, and the taste/potency/smell are top notch on this pheno (it may have only hermied due to stress anyway).

My question is -

Assuming that this plant DID seed itself, if I grow these seeds out am I guaranteed a kind of carbon copy of same plant as if it were cloned? Same smell/taste/effect? Or is it still a roll of the pheno dice?

No, the seeds can have pheno variation like all seeds. The trait for Hermaphrodite may be dominant. Most growers are not willing to risk the time and expense of growing plants with such high risk.

Ah well. That's a shame. I agree, it's not worth the risk.

Thanks for the info.

Hi peeps. Just looking around the breeding section and saw this. I am just learning all this breeding/seed stuff.
So, lets say (for shits and giggles) @Life_On_Mars had a time machine. He could go back in time, spray CS on the newly budding pistils of that great plant, collect the sacks when they are full and then the pollen, brush some of the pollen onto the new little pistils of another Dinafem Cheese XXL auto fem, and there would be a great possibility of her attributes he enjoyed coming through in the seeds produced from the second plant.
Yes? Am I getting it somewhat at least? LOL.

Did you by any chance remove any branches. I have seen flowers form from the little bud at the end of the branches when removed. Also too much nitrogen, slow death as I call it, will also make one hermie. But usually it’s a gift from god. Consider it a blessing and grow them out. Don’t forget the sts. Or cs if it works for you.

I give hermie seeds the garbage treatment. Right in the trash where they belong.

If your gonna grow em I'd attempt it outdoors using hermie seeds.

Unless your down the street from me. I don't need my outdoor runs blown by pollenchuckers. Seeds from your weed in mine isn't like reese's peanut butter cups...it makes for very pissed off neighbors.

If you are hurting for money and plan on growing them indoors? Gotta do what you gotta do.

But don't do it outdoors if you live 1-2 miles near people. Id toss the seeds,.... you could use them for "tests". Try different germ methods, or soil types. Just dont flower them out.

None of my neighbors grow. And I do it outdoors at our camp where there is nobody around for miles. I'd just pop one outdoors away from your other plants to test it. In the end you'll find seeds or you wont. Then you'll know if you should grow any more of em. But if you got other farmers around I agree with this statement. Not many grow outdoors in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Our summers are shorter and not super hot. So indicas or autos work great here for outdoors. And I prefer me and indica dominant strain anyways for medical reasons.
