Yo,

I've just bought a dual spectrum CFL and I've just been setting it up and being the first time I've seen a dual specrum bulb in action I was a little thrown when I saw half the bulb is a red spectrum and the other is blue, makes sense really but here's where I got a bit stuck.

Do I have half the blue showing and half the red or do i have the blue facing towards the plant during veg and then spin it 180' during flowering so the red is facing the plant?

Dumb as an elephants toe jam I know but I have to ask.

Peace

i dont think it would matter too much but you could do that. i think that the reflector would help mix the light and light still passes through those glass tubes theyre not blocking one side totally anyway.
never had one though maybe theres a rule of thumb to go by.

Nice one dude,

I've got it turned blue side down for now but yeah, makes sense that the light will mix itself up. Total dumb ass moment.

My only concern really was if I have two plants in there with the bulb in the middle and the bulb turned so half of each was showing, I kinda presumed one plant would receive more red and the other more blue. Will see, only one way to find out I suppose.

Thank again dude.

Peace

well, my dual spec bulb looks like an ordinary white bulb.

how can you tell which one is the "red side" and which one is the "blue side"? is it written on the bulb?

:D

No dude, its quite clearly has a visible blue side and a red..... gimme a sec and I'll post a pic if the camera can pick it up.

I can tell which tubes are which on my feliz 125w dual spec. It involves looking direrctly at the bulb which can't be good for my eyesight but I glance at it every once in a while. The 2700k is orange-white and the 6500k is blue-white. I don't have a reflector in there atm cause it doesn't fit - my led is a fatty. And I don't really have it oriented any particular way, suppose I could rotate it to favor the blue side since I'm vegging seedlings... but I haven't bothered to yet.
