We live in a basement apartment and about this time of year we start get a ton of spiders that manage to eek in through the walls or old windows to get out of the MT cold. We found our first "visitor" this morning under a bath towel and it was about 3/4" across (including legs, thankfully). Just wondering if I should be proactive around the base of the grow tent, and if so what I should use, as the air input is right at the bottom of the tent. I don't often have the tent unzipped, but who knows if these little buggers could squeeze through the zipper or not... ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Particularly interested in natural deterrents if effective (and necessary).

Thank you! :weed:

That's a complicated answer. Depending on where you live and what breed of spider; yes, they will eat your plants. Are they as destructive as a full-time plant eating insect? No. All spiders have the ability to consume vegetation, but it is not their main source of food. I grow outdoors and don't really worry about the spiders as I want them around to eat any potential bugs that are looking to chow down on my plants. If I were in a situation where the only food source was going to be my plant.....I would probably prefer no bugs, including spiders.

In my experience, most spiders that enter a house only want a dark corner. We get spiders here but they go into hiding. never seen one out in the open and light on purpose. They’ll find a dark corner of a cupboard... I think diotimaceous earth will keep them away. Sry for spelling

LOL< a spider would not survive the wind tunnel I call ma tent....

Out of around 40,000 spider species, Bagheera kiplingi is the only spider known to have a herbivorous diet. It lives in Mexico and Costa Rica, is a species of 'jumping spider', and feeds mostly on protein nodules of the acacia tree.

So basically the answer is no, spiders do not eat cannabis or any other plant unless it is a Bagheera kiplingi. I always think of spiders are one of the good guys.

I let spiders rock my tent, I think I have one now. I had a snail on one the last grow! A little nature never hurts!

In general unless its a lady bug, if it flies I try to kill it. No science behind that besides most bugs I run into that cause problems fly. Soil nats and little nano bugs are obviously another story...

Spiders wont eat cannabis but I'm sure we wouldnt want their webs and stuff all in the plants...
