I posted a while back about OF soil that was very acidic. I tried adding Lime to the soil. I started with 2 Tbsp/5 Gal and tested it and it wasn't enough. My runoff was still about 4.9. I started at 4.3 so at least I was making progress. So I added some more to my batch of soil and planted an AKR. It has at least 1 Tbsp Lime/Gal. This plant looked like it was going to be one of my best. I tested the runoff at week 4 and it was 5.6. I was obviously surprised the PH wasn't higher. So I took the top inch or so of soil off, mixed it with more soil, added 2 more Tbsp of dolmitic lime and put the soil back. I figured this was better than just spreading the lime right on top. This was on day 35. The next day it looked like someone had taken brown paint and splattered it on some of the bigger sets of fan leaves. I flushed a few gallons of spring water through just to make sure it was mixed in as best it could be. I was hoping it wouldn't get too bad but it's getting it's butt kicked pretty bad the past week. Here are some pics above. I was curious if anyone knows what lime burn looks like. It happened immediately after I added the extra lime to the top of the plant so it made me curious. Otherwise what do you think? Calcium def? Suggestions? The good news is the PH is testing much better now.
