have a wee northern lights auto outdoor, its been struggling but last wk or two its recovered and started growing nicely, somehow it got naturally topped or trimmed and has three tips, yesterday i checked the soil for moisture and found an ants nests in the soil, loads of their we white eggs to, i had ant killer spread all round the pot but not on the soil itself !! i sprayed with neem oil mixture

would neem be enough to get rid of them?
can ant killer powder be sprinkled on the soil?

thx for any replys

What stage u at?
If its veg then cut off the infected roots. Like run em through with water and a lot... Clean the root zone completely then use neem (tbh not sure if u could spray that on roots directly.) and repot...

If youre in flower... Well u can let it finish... Or do the same... But cutting off roots in flower is vital so id be easy there and maybe just clean it real good the repot... Cutting off no more than 20% of the root zone should cause no harm..... Should...

I would just add diatomacious earth around the plant. Do i understand you right that the ants are in the surrounding soil, and not in the pot? If they are in the pot, do what Shrederr said.

Use Orange oil - 2oz. per gallon and drench well. Add couple drops dish liquid as a surfactant. Completely organic. Works for spider mites and fungus gnats and other arthropods as well. The terpene d-limonene breaks down their exoskeleton and dehydrates them. Quickly. Foliar spray also. Stay off the neem.
