I have a 4'x4'x7' tent and I want to put more light in there. Would a tent that size handle a 1000w hps as long as you could control temperature ?

I think I'm gonna try it I hope it's not too much. I have one 400w would it be better to just get another one of those and run 800w ?

You would get better coverage, and a lower light bill, with 2 X 400, but more lumens with a 1000. If it were me, I would run with the 2X400. But I am still relatively new to indoor growing, and there are much more knowledgeable people around here, who can better help you.

I think I will get another 400 for the coverage and the savings. Cheaper to buy and operate with better coverage:D That does it for me !

a single 1o00w bulb puts out a 3x3 main light footprint with the edges dropping off in par value pretty quick. You should do fine with that setup in that size tent

hard to say but I would do the 2 400w myself for better coverage even if the heat is about the same.

Yeah that's what I'm gonna do since I already have one 400. The price difference between the two is about $100 so that makes it an easier choice.
