Alternative Ways To Oxegenate Water?

I'm currently adding water about half way to a 2 gallon jug and shaking the piss out of for 5 min then opening the jug and closing it again repeating shake down 3 more times.

I don't know if this will add enough oxygen to the water you need.

so if anyone has any other easier more efficient ways to do so let me know

thanks MSH

Yeah, you can get a small pump and an airstone at Walmart for under $10. My understanding is that oxygenating water is a process that happens gradually over time, so shaking a bottle for a few minutes probably isn't doing much for you. I run an airstone in my water for 24 hours before I use it on the plants.

These little tablets would most likely be ok for a few times http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angels-Aquatics-Pet-Supplies-2131/dp/B001UAP2S4, but the best way to save money in the long run would be just pay up for an air pump. I got this 10-15gal pump, 2 airstones, 2 t-connectors, and A decent amount of aquarium tubing for under 15 bucks at wal-mart.

Haven't used it yet, still waiting on beans. Shouldn't it be fine to just let bubble for 24 hrs without a lid? Or do I need to make it a closed system?

If it's tap water you are getting out a good amount of Chlorine (Not Chlorimine)when you do that. To introduce oxygen you could put in a cap or two of Hydrogen peroxide, breaks down into water and O2. The colder the water the more O2 it can hold.

That's a great tip mate,I don't have any space I can set up buckets with air stones without people wondering why i need oxygenated water,so that's a great alternative, cheers man :bong:
Iv just read this article and it also says it can help prevent over watering, here's a little bit of what I read

When plants are watered with H2O2 it will break down and release Oxygen into the area around the roots. This helps stop the Oxygen from being depleted in the water filled air spaces until air can get back into them. High Oxygen levels at the roots will encourage rapid healthy root growth. In a Hydroponic system H2O2 will disperse through out the system and raise Oxygen levels as it breaks down. Strong white healthy roots with lots of fuzzy new growth will be visible. This fuzzy growth has massive surface area allowing for rapid absorption of the huge amounts of water and nutrients needed for rapid top growth. A healthy plant starts with a healthy root system.
