Hi guys I was just poking around looking for different amendments to use, and found this nice short read. It is 10 pages, and has lots of great info. If you are looking to substitute an amendment or just learn more, it might help you out.

ATTRA: Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas

ABSTRACT: This publication covers soil amendments that are not standard agricultural fertilizers. These include plant and animal by-products, rock powders, seaweed, inoculants, conditioners and others. Much of the information is taken from research reports by Iowa State University and the Rodale Institute Research Center, which cover the material in greater detail (2, 9). The reader is referred to these works for additional information. Another ATTRA publication, Sources for Organic Fertilizers and Amendments, serves as a companion piece to this document. It provides sources for the materials discussed herein.

Take care guys. :smoking:

Read it and saved it. I love documents that I can actually understand!

Thankee o' Fuggzy one....
Ha-ha I know what you mean. Most paper I find from Cornell university are pretty easy to understand. Not all but most. How's your soul going? Have you started cooking it yet? I'm still waiting on a few items I could not local source. Best of luck bud!
:coco:

Edit: So I'm going to leave the mistake, auto correct was a bit funny this time. I am asking about your soil, not soul. Although I hope it is in tip top shape.

Soil still in bags and such as it's been COLD and rainy. But....

Sunny and warming for the next several days so me soul is smilin'

Will pick up alfalfa, crab and kelp meals today or tomorrow, git my mix on 'tween now and Saturday I 'cpect (-:

Nice! Lol I too take my time to mix my soil. I took 2 days just to mix my base, and got a big'ol bowl of amendments on the counter. I'm thinking about 2-3 days to mix those in too, lol. Not to mention my Doc has me on some meds that don't like the sun, so I'm limited on exposure as is. It goes something like... Mix soil, break a sweat, smoke a bong hit, stare at soil and wish it would just flip it's self, rinse, and repeat.

Actually after talking to you about your soil, I upped my crab meal by 2x. I'll have shrimp and lobster meal which are both fast to decompose, and in equal parts I'll have the crab for the long haul. Type to ya later.:smoking:

Thank the powers I can be out in the sun. Would go nuckin' futs without it!
I have a 5lb lifting limit due to me back. Yeah right, like that's gonna happen LOL. 20 to 30 lbs is my working limit, but only while being verrrrry careful and deliberate. So yeah, some things take forever and a day to get done.
Walk the dog, take a toke, sit for a while.
Mow small portion of lawn. Take a toke and sit for a long while.
Open bag of potting soil, toke, measure soil 1 gallon at a time onto tarp, toke, measure coco coir onto tarp, toke, look at big ol' bag of EWC, toke, go inside and sit with heating pad......

ad infinitum
