Hey Folks,
I have been quite busy lately. But I wanted to take a few minutes to post up a grow I am helping my friend, Ally, with.
Ally, has what is essentially a tumor in the base of her skull, one of the many symptoms she has to deal with is chronic migraine. Her & her husband cannot afford insurance at this point in their lives and so treatment is relegated to managing symptoms. Cannabis helps her out immensely, especially if she can smoke in the morning, then at lunch, then again at night. When she is able to do that, it makes a huge difference in the frequency and pain of the headaches.
So I am helping them get their first few grows going. Bob, her husband is quite handy and made a very nice 5' x 3' x 2.5' grow box.
Plenty of air movement and good carbon filter and exhaust.
At this point, I am having them use T5's for heat control purposes.
Medium is Advanced Sunshine #4 Ph was 6.5
Nutes are AN ph Perfect Grow, B-52, Bloom, with some unsulfured molasses.
Plants are
1 KVS @ 40 days
5 Onyx @ 14 days
Pics are titled, quality sucks, can't take my good camera without raising suspicions.
The KVS is a bit small, not too small, not as tall as mine got, but I had them go pretty easy on the nutes.
The Onyx are growing pretty good, but a couple of them have very funky looking leaves (pics Onyx4, Onyx5, Onyx5a. Could I get any comment on anyone that may recognize whether it is a strain peculiarity or a deficiency? Ph is holding fast @ 6.5 and they are able to maintain there heat @ 88 or a bit lower.
thanks!

looks like a few things ...the light needs to come up a bit they are very tight ......i use roots organic extreme serene its made from kelp ....its a defeciency tho ive seen that just not good enough to tell u exactly which one .....if there is a High Tech Garden center around I recommend getting a soil test for ur nutrient density ......

maybe too hot 88 Is a high temp i grow around 82-80 and that seems to be a bit much !!!!!

I'm not seeing any deficiencies. I'm inclined to agree on the heat. 80 degrees is ideal and it's practically a must to keep it below 85.

Has your friend tried any edibles? They may work well for her as they are longer lasting and give a more consistent dosage than smoking.

i used to be able to keep my temps around a cool 82 high and 78 low but now durning the summer months the temp gauge @ top of box is 95+ and the bottom temp gauge @ 74. Im keeping the house temp @ 68. freezing my wife out but she says its worth is:D i know its probably affecting my plant growth some but sometimes we have to just work with what we have ya know:smoke: just my :2cents: :wiz:grow karma to you :wiz:

Thanks for looking in & commenting guys, we are doing what we can with the temps as their box is in garage with no AC, So a high of 88 in the box is pretty good. Right now they have passive intake. They have an intake fan they need to install, which may bring down the high temp to about 85, but I am not sure they can hope for much better during the summer.
The growth seems OK, certainly not stellar, but satisfactory. Funky leaves don't bother me as long as the general health of the plant is OK.

A word about the AN PH Perfect line.
As far as it keeping the ph steady it definitely is holding the ph @ 6.5 with untreated tapwater. Soil ph is holding steady @ 6.5.
I am having Ally go easy on the nutes until they get at least one or two harvests out of the way, just to keep things simple. I would rather increase the feed to a hungry plant, than have to rehab a burnt one.

As far as consumables go, she has not been able to try any for her condition. They aren't readily available in our state, and they just have not had the means to risk losing any of the cannabis they had in a failed attempt at making them. That is definitely a goal when they have grown enough to feel like they won't be going without if the batch does not turn out well.

Pic Update KVS day46
Onyx day20
Ally's grow is doing OK.
The temps are still on the high side this last week at 86, but so far so good.
Her husband has been working quite a bit and still needs to add the computer fan to the box for more intake than the passive intake is providing.
The KVS is a bit on the small side, but not a stumpy by any measure.
The Onyx will definitely be bigger than the KVS at the rate they are growing. And I am fairly certain I can see female preflowers on at least 2 of them.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for Ally, her & her husband are really being very diligent in tending them but not "overly loving them"
A little porn below.

I can see a little heat stress but all and all, they look pretty good.

Thanks Muddy, is the heat stress you are seeing the sort of crinkle on the serrated edges of the leaves? the plants in this box never really have droopy leaves.

Yep. The edges of leaves dry out a bit from the excessive heat, causing them to curl up.
