Thinking on add some HID lighting and 600 watts would be perfect for me. But as I stroll though all the brands of Ballast, and there different price ranges, I just wonder what's the best on out there.

Was thinking about the Baddass 600 watt. But it a pre-order item only.

So any ideas guys???

yup:

The Galaxy Select-a-Watt is different than any other “dimmable” electronic ballast on the market. The Galaxy brand name carries a strong reputation of reliability and performance.
How the Galaxy Select-a-Watt feature works:
 1. It will properly power a 400, 600 or 1000 watt lamp.
 2. The second option for this ballast is dimming a 1000 watt lamp. Adjust the switch to 400 or 600 watts and the ballast will dim the 1000 watt lamp by 40 or 60%.
 3. The Turbo Charge feature will increase the output of a 1000 watt lamp (only) by approximately 10%. You will achieve peak performance, but this may decrease your lamp life.

for 350 buck you cant beat scalability!

JM, there you go again, on the ball my man. Thank you!!

np mate.... i have been looking at getting an upgrade... when i found that i just about skeeted in my pants! lol

i have the 250/400 watt version currently and its been a great hassle free machine from day 1 !!!! :smokebuds:

I just sold off the C.A.P. NextGen I had. Digital, 400/600 watt switchable. Paid just under $200 for it a year and a half ago. Ran great, quiet, no problems with it.

I just use a cheapo magnetic one. I have been thinking of upgrading to a digital one.

You will like the 600. They do put out some heat. Once you have that sussed, You will like the end results. They are the most efficient bulb watt per watt.

I would have a hard time going with anything else for my own grows.. Just me tho.

well thanks for the advice on that.... I'm getting the "air hood" with it... yieldmaster on the same page... as i did with the last one... kills the heat issue instantly! :) i dont think i'll run any tstat for my fans this time... constant negative pressure is really required anyway in these frikin old places i always live... ughhh

I like the option to put a 1000 watt bulb in and then run less for power save and, if needed you can always jump right up to 1000... :)

I will say since I've had a digital I wouldn't go back to magnetics... def like the efficiency and quietness of the digital.

The noise is why i am thinking of changing to a digi!! The prick hums some thing fierce! Almost as noisy as the exhaust fan.

yeah.... i couldn't have that in the last place and this place it wouldnt be any better... gotta keep it quiet... :) thus the 90 cfm bathroom fan (2.5 sonas) and the digis..... heres to technology huh? :smokebuds:
