New Grower advice on books...plz

i'm totally new. i've heard about the best books here and there but never made a note of which one. anybody know what the absolute best bud bible is? B&N has like craploads of titles and a dozen of em have bible in the title. why can't they just print the good stuff, and save the trees! thanks for advice.
