So I've spent more hours than I probably should have researching growing mediums and nutrients and PH levels. One source I found valuable was TaNg's nutrient schedule guide. But I had to substitute products that I can pick up in brick and mortar stores around me. Canadian Tire has come to my rescue so here's my current shopping list

- ProMix HP
- Root Farm Part 1 Base Plant Nutrient (4-0-1 in place of Sensi Bloom A 3-0-0)
- Root Farm Part 2 All-Purpose Plant Nutrient (2-3-7 in place of Sensi Bloom B 2-4-8)
- PH test kit

I do have a store nearby with the CarboLoad and Overdrive later down the road... they have sensi bloom A and B too but only in 1 litre containers and I could do with the reduced cost of Root Farm

Think I'm close to on track? It's a window grow in a window that gets 12+ hours of sun a day starting next week

Just ordered the PH pen, and bonus it's coming with a ppm one too xD Do you mean moisture meter for the soil or the air? The humidity in the room they'll be in isn't *terribly* customizable but is naturally fairly high and I do have a humidity meter and humidifier I can stick up there. If you meant for the soil, what level do you think it should be kept at? the only moisture meter with good reviews at a decent price I'm finding only has numbers, not percents

Re PH up and down... is it possible to use household items like vinegar and baking soda to adjust the ph? or do the products have something special about them?

oopz, sorry bout that :rolleyes2: guess i shoulda specified -> moisture meter for soil ;) one of the good ol' 3-way probe style meterz will do jus fine...one of the kind that'z suppozed to meazure soil moisture, soil ph & light...of course, they never seem to meazure ph or light worth a shit, lol, but they're pretty reliable on moisture readingz, at least in me own experience  and the good newz is they're only $10-12 at any home depot or common gardening store, so...

and yes, u can uze vinegar/baking soda, but neither are very stable at all in a molecular sense :nono: the ph up/down from gh is only like $20 i think on amazon, and like so many other thingz in a grower'z basic toolkit, it'z an investment item & will last a good long while, as it literally only takez a few dropz ;) (and be careful, ph down is a lot stronger than ph up, lol  ) oh, and no, there'z nothin really special about em per se, but fwiw, ph up = phosphoric acid & ph down = potassium carbonate ;) ppp

Phosphoric acid has to come diluted in water as the powdered form is volatile. I haven't been able to find anything to use otherwise.

Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate and "could" cause salt build up. A pinch does a lot pH wise but more tap water will raise the pH as well.
