bit confused about hermaphrodite plants . my question is if i have a 100% female plant then stress it out and make it hermie will the seeds it produces be the same genetics as its host ?

not sure if that makes much sense but would like some advice

Hi bigblaze.. The answer to your question is Yes... Hardest part is trying to get an auto to hermie.. Ive made a photoperiod fem run by stressing a female plant to the point where she reversed .. Much better to use the pollen on other plants rather than use the seed from the host... I agree that it is genetically unstable, but use on others is fine and Fem seed, its been over 3 years since i made the photo cross and ive Never seen it hermie or neither have thoughs who tested it....

Its a lot of work though brother... Good luck if your still up for trying...
 
Any female that reverses and pollinates itself or another female will produce all female seeds. If the female hermied, even if under stress, the seeds (at least some of them) will have the ability to hermie also. This is not desirable for obvious reasons. If the female hermied under normal conditions, I wouldnt even consider using those seeds, BUT if the female hermied under extreme stress conditions, then the resulting seeds might be relatively stable, IF they are kept in a low stress environment.

A female that was forced to produce pollen via chemical means, like STS or CS, is much less likely to produce unstable seeds, UNLESS this female also carries the hermie trait and you didnt realize it, then the offspring will also have a tendency to hermie. Best way to know if a auto female has the chance to hermie would be to grow out some seeds from the same batch, subject them to significant stress and then if they dont hermie, force a new plant from the same parents to reverse and use that pollen to fertilize another female that is either from those same parents, or whos siblings have been stress tested in a similar manner.

For example, last summer I had a dinafem Moby Dick that was planted outside. It was over fertilized and planted too early so subjected to quite a bit of cold, it only grew to be about 12 inches tall. Right about the time it started flowering, the area I had it flooded. It was under water at least 3 days before I got to it. I pulled it out and it lost most of its root structure in the process, took it home and potted it. It continued to flower but exhibited some male flowers. I used this pollen to knock up a Think Different and HBSS mother plant and got about 50 seeds from each. These will carry the hermie trait, but the amount of stress needed to exhibit sex reversal will hopefully be quite high. I will try some of these seeds this summer, just for kicks, but not anywhere near other plants, in case they do hermie.

One situation where it might be desirable to use hermie auto seeds would be if you wanted to start a patch of high THC 'wild' marijuana. If you planted hermie plants in a guerrilla situation where there is little chance of them being pollinated by other plants in the general area, they may reverse and reseed themselves and could establish a reoccurring wild high THC marijuana patch that you could visit yearly and harvest some decent buds from, but those buds would likely contain some seeds.
