Hi, guys. I been growing for a bit, not long, but a little while, and obviously am still learning things here and there.

I have a little question regarding PH.

I've grown indoors before and used tap water with a PH around 6.7 - 6.8.

I'm getting ready to do another indoor grow again. After getting all my equipment ready and whatnot, I decided to test the water I will be using. Disappointingly I saw that the ph was around 5.3 - 5.4. On the low side. It's well water so I would imagine it will fluctuate.

I will be using Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil which supposedly has dolomite lime in it for balancing PH. Also the nutrients I will be using (the General Organics Go Box) states that balancing PH is not necessary.

My question is, am I going to have to worry about adjusting PH levels? That will be another thing I have to learn, but I will if I have to.

Thanks.

well since you have a Ph meter try to leave the water for about 24h to evaporate clorine and then try again, the ph should def.rise... maybe it will rise to that 6.0-6.7 ph :)
my tap water is 7.3 and after 24-48h the ph rises to 8.3-8.7..
then after i add my nutes(biobizz) the ph comes down to 7.0 again and then i adjust it with "lemon kick" or my DIY ph down to desired ph level.

Since you will be using well water it probably doesn't have chlorine in it so you won't have to worry about that.
But, I highly recommend PH'ing your water so the plant will uptake the correct nutrients from the soil.
Nutrient lockout sucks. Little extra work now will cut down on the swearing later.

Get a bottle of ph up and ph down. Then you will have capacity to hone in the sweet spot.

u are right..missed the info its well water.

I've never messed with PH levels before. I've only measured it a few times with a meter I had on hand. So here's a noob question:

I've never messed with PH levels before and know nothing about the products. How does PHing water work? If I buy a bottle of PH UP or DOWN, do I just add a little to my faucet water until the levels are where I want them before I water my soil? And is it powder or liquid? Thanks.

Most pH up/down "kits" are liquids but you can also use lemon or vinegar for ph down and baking soda for pH up,there are other organic ways to get the feed in the correct range,if you are growing in soil( ocean forest) you will want to be in the 6.0-6.5 range.Above or below this "window" and you could lockout nutrients. I will post a pH/nutrient chart to show you what im talking about...

Yes I know those charts very well. Thanks, budelee. Should I PH the water, or do I PH the nutrients after they are mixed?

Also, any chance you could link a PH kit you would recommend?

Thanks again.

Ph after all the nutes have been added...i cant recommend a kit cause i use lemon juice for down, baking soda for up.its not cause i grow organic, its cause its cheaper, and i can pick it up at the grocery store when i get my molasses...peace
