Hey guys,
Question for you, I'm trying a little different training with this Bruce banner auto. I topped it once and fimmed it once both by day 30. I'm at day 34 and I think she's pulling through. What do you guys think?

Thanks

I would leave it alone. If it’s been in veg for 5 weeks already it might start flowering soon and you shouldn’t stress it out anymore. I know topping autos stresses them out a lot where it slows down growth. I’ve grown multiple plants side by side, some topped and some with just the top bent over (LST) and the topped plants always ended up smaller with thinner stalks. The plants that I performed simple LST always grew larger and yielded more. I grow mostly all ILGM autos where they flower in 3 weeks, If you are growing autos that have a long period of veg, then they have plenty of time to recover from the topping.

Looks good if your in organics feed some aloe vera yogurt or kombucha in water. Aloe vera will help stems because of silica

I would focus on your environment first. The whole point of a indoor grow is to maintain and control your space. i would take out the plant and give a full clean to that tent and finish with 99% iso. I would also repot that plant as i can see an algae build up on the bottom.

If we are strictly talking about training, my golden rule is Autos: LST and HST / Photos: anything to LST HST topping netting etc.

I wouldnt dare top an auto, but curious about your results. watch out for PM!

When I first started growing autos I messed a few up topping them. But I learned through trial and error that waiting until they’re showing sex then topping them doesn’t stress them out hardly at all. They usually have 6-7 nodes when I top them and I top them down to the 5th so the 2 tops left behind are branches and not little nubs like I use to. Doing this my plants don’t miss a beat and sometimes grow an inch in the next 24-48 hours. They start flowering shortly after and stretch like crazy. I haven’t been doing any LST to my autos.
But I do agree. I would leave that plant alone.

@MidnightToker420 :welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:Been there and done that years ago. Topping after 21 days is not a good idea and topping or fiming an auto more than once also is not a good idea. Yes, it has to do with the short veg time and having enough time to recover. I learned from @Autobeast many years ago on another forum that autos are best topped once above the fourth node ASAP. That is what I do and I am averaging 6+ oz a plant now.

You do not need to re-pot the plant but it would be a good idea to get an air gap under the pot. The problem with a soggy bottom is anaerobic microbes thrive where there is no air and this can lead to root rot, Fungus Gnats and other issues.

I think your plant may be stunted with all of the stress but these plants are incredibly hardy so she may fool us.

:goodluck:
