55days in and yellowing on leaf edges

Evening all... I've been growing forless than a year, and back in october decided to crack some autos (Creme caramel, fast bud and Critical jack) I'm currently on day 54/55 and have come across my first issue in my grow and hoping someone here could advise me correctly (seeing as most members here seem to specialize on autos it seemed the right place to check out)

As I say i'm 55 days in, have some yellowing only around the bud sites leave edges of my main colas on 2 of my plants (have 5 in total) the yellowing is nowhere else on any of my plants and i'm starting to wonder if this is the leaf changing colour as it's ending its life or if there is a deficiency of some sort.. (i'm growing in soil (PM) using PM oldtimers bloom and they are in 6.5L pots and being fed every 3 days)

Also with Autos around what kinda time do the clear trichs start going cloudy?? and then on average how long do they remain cloudy before amber please??

Look forward to hearing your thoughts...thanks for reading

Reefer

Welcome Reeferman. You are right, AFN is THE place for autos.

Looks like you might be lacking a little in potassium (K). That could be a lock out being cause by your pH being off, or a deficiency. Do you know what your pH is? That's always the first thing to check before adding additional nutrients.

I think this post will answer the rest of your questions: http://www.autoflower.org/f44/when-harvest-autos-your-leaves-will-tell-you-4889.html

Thanks Muddy....Not been having to check PH as i'm using soil (PM soil to be precise) that's why i'm a little confused....

thanks for the link, i will take a look now

Now I'm confused, what's PM? If you're in soil then you need to check the pH of the soil or the run off when you feed. If your pH is causing a nutrient lockout, you will need to fix that first before giving any additional K.

PM = Plant magic :eek:)

Thanks for the advice...I guess i'll have to purchase a PH identifier

What is a good product to add for the extra K?? if that is the problem..

Cheers

Cheers Muddy for looking in again...

I did some reading and viewing of pics last night and I think you are spot on with Potassium deficiency... I have purchased a PH up kit and ph tester kit (will arrive tomorrow or friday). I need to make sure my water is 7ph and water my plants and catch the first drops of run off and then ph test them to see what the drop in ph is between my soil and water and then adapt my water so that my soil gets to around 6.5 to unlock......At which stage can I then start adding nutes/feed again?? Whilst ph-ing up?? or wait until next scheduled feed??

Thankfully I may have caught this eary enough to not cause too much of a problem as my harvest date is 15 days time (day 70) can take them a couple of days longer but as it will be christmas and I will be away, I really need to harvest before christmas.

Thanks for helping out.

oh BTW Muddy I liked your thread that you linked but it didn't answer around what day do clear start turning cloudy? I'm aware in MY situation it may be a little longer as the potassium problem I have may slightly delay this..

Thanks again

If you're going to harvest in 15 days, then there really isn't the time or need to address the deficiency. At this point you should begin flushing your plants to remove any left over nutrients and improve the taste of your buds. You don't have enough time to correct the problem, give them a proper flush, and still harvest in 2 weeks. I would suggest you still do the run off test when you get your kit, more for your own knowledge so you can determine for future reference if the problem was caused by pH lockout or a deficiency.

It's hard to say exactly when the trics start to turn cloudy as it can vary from plant to plant and strain to strain. If you don't have one already, pick up a 30 x magnifying glass to look at them.

I guess that's good news and bad news rolled into 1.... Happy that it won't make any difference if I harvest in 15 days but a little gutted that my current problem will affect the final product/yield....Thankyou very much for your help and advice Muddy and I will still run the tests just for my own knowledge as you quite rightly wrote.

All the best
