Hello all. I have 4x4 grow tent I believe homemedics brand. 1000 watt lumatek ballast dimmable with hortilux eye bulb. King cobra hood. I am pulling air through air hood out of tent with 6 inch vortex fan. Goblin filter I believe. My grow tent only has 4 inch openings so I had to use reducers to connect ducting out of tent to fan. Here's my question

1. should I run my light at way 750 watts and keep temps down to low 80s during flowering or stay at 1000 watts and exceed the 85 degree barrier on occasion? My temps get at the most with 1000 watts about 88 or so nothing too crazy. Will the higher temperature with the 1000 watt be counterproductive and give me less of a yield then the 750 setting with optimal temps? Humidity is low 40s 1000 watt and low 50s with 750 watt.

2. Will running the 750 setting instead of 1000 watt overall reduce my yield regards of temps?

With HPS lights, the more the better, especially during flowering. Fifty watts per square foot is the minimum you should have. Given your square footage the 750 watts is adequate to cover the whole space, giving you about 47 watts per sq. ft. At 1,000 watts, 62 watts per sq. ft. I would be inclined to run at 1,000 watts and see if I couldn't improve the ventilation. You will get lower yields running at 750.

Are you exhausting back into the room? If so, maybe you can vent that out of the room so you fan isn't sucking hot air back in. What's the temp in the room, and any A/C?

It is in unfinished basement. The temps stay low I would say in 60s. I'm sucking through the side 4 inch flange vent as passive intake but its close to ballast and carbon filter. I think since the openings in tent are four inch and I have six inch duct.. I had to use reducer and I may b losing air there. During peak hot hours I put bowl of ice by intake and gets temp to about 82.
