Hi all,

I’ve just finished my second grow with mixed mixed results so far. I’m looking for suggestions before I start my next grow.

I’m limited to a small tent hidden in my loft (I have an uptight landlord and nosey neighbours). I had major issues with crazy temperature swings during both grows, but I’ve managed to get things under control with decent fans and a heater for the cold spells. I finally have a stable environment, but I’m still limited to a small tent.

I’ve had two grows so far. Both in fabric pots, soil/perlite, hand watered with un-adjusted tap water and biobizz nutes.

Grow 1: 2 x DP AutoXtreme - 4oz dry
Grow 2: 3 x DP Think Different - 3oz dry

Given the crazy temperature swings (and the fact that they were my first grows) I’m happy they weren’t a total disaster, but now that I have things under control I really want to nail down the best type of grow for my limited space.

My question is this: If you were limited to a 70x70x160cm tent what kind of grow would you do?

- Preferred method? (Smart/Airpots, Autopots, Wilma etc)
- Preferred medium? (Soil, coco etc)
- How many plants for maximum yield? (1 big plant or 2-4 smaller plants)
- Any other suggestions?

I know this is a pretty broad question, but it would be great to hear people’s opinions.

Thanks!

DP have some big strains, not a bad result at all for first 2 grows
airpots-cause i have them already
soil-im lazy and not very good.so if something is going to go south,it will go south the slowest in soil.all theory as i dont know what im talking about.
how many-as its a small square shape 1 plant...im in a 50x90 ish and run 3 plants...but there is 3 weeks between each of them.
any other-keep er lit.
:pighug:

hey @cammile sounds like you are starting out jus like me, pretty well much same size tent and it in the loft. I got a job lot hint an tips if you ever need them on growing in lofts... growing through the hottest summer on record in a loft is my new super power ;)

All i can do is describe my system to date and what I would do in your tent

Fabrics pots (8ltr), coco in a run to waste system with drippers, all automated... depending on pot size will determine how often I feed. My biggest auto was only grown in about 6ltrs of coco being fed twice a day during its heavy feeding period.

in your size tent depending on strain / type, auto or photo... I would go with just 2 plants for auto's and 4 for photo's. In that size tent I would just use LST training technique for the auto's and for photoperiods I would use a scrog... Scroging auto's is tricky, unless you know the stretch and that they stretch all at the same time it can be very difficult to get and even canopy. I've tried quite a few times. What works best is to let them grow into a net and spread them out that way. Place the net about a good 30" from you light and let the plants grow through it spreading them out to cover the foot print of the tent. That 30" is just a guess, it really does depend on the strain. Some auto just don't stretch that much. A good tip would be to have the net so you can adjust the height as they stretch.

Come on over to my garden journal cammile and I can then show you how I get around growing lofts all year round.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have a few weeks until I my next grow (my landlord is doing some repairs), so plenty of time to research.
@archie gemmill - I'm leaning towards one plant for my next grow. With some LST and a little TLC I figure I can get a good enough yield for my personal needs.
@Damien50 - I like the idea of coco in an autopot. First I've heard of quantum boards, as good as they look i'm on a budget so will stick with my current light for now. But def going to look into some kind of watering system.
@Slater - Yeh, loft grows are hard work. I'll be checking out your journal for sure, keep an eye out for my questions!
