Hey guys,

I'm currently growing one plant in a 2x2 with a Mars Hydro TS600.

I've read online that the recommended amount of wattage for a 2x4 would be around 250watts from the wall.

If possible, I would like to reuse my TS600 and buy another one and just put the two in a 2x4. Considering the TS600 draws close to 100 watt from the wall, would 2 of them in a 2x4 be enough for 2-3 plants?

Thanks a lot!

What would be a good light for a 2x4 in that case?

The ts1000 is a nice step up. Also, it has a dimmer so you can match the 600 up to a point and control seedling exposure as well. I think two of the 600's would be ok. I think I read the recommended min is 30w/sq ft? So, two 600's pulling 100W each would be just shy of a 2x4.

2x4 = 8' sq
30w x 8 = 240w ....so like 40 ish shy if you were gonna try and stuff 3 in there. I bet two 600's and two plants would fit nicely. You would have plenty of room to work with and space for things like fans, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, etc...

Budget can decide a lot. How much are you looking to spend?

EDIT: @damien50 - Guy had a lot of great suggestions when I was light shopping.

@DCLXVI I guess I could just keep the TS600 in the 2x2 in that case. I would say anything under 300USD would be in my budget!

The Mars Hydro TSL 2000 looks really tempting, anything that might beat it?

Wait till damien chimes in. $300 is a nice budget to work with. If you're cool with running two tents I think a light designed to fill the 2x4 might work better. I am space limited and can only run a 2x2. I ended up with a Migro Aray 120. I have a ts1000 on my indoor vegetable plants. I am not up to date on lights for larger spaces.

I run a tsw2000 and really like the dimmer

Yes I really like my TS600 right now, thinking the smart choice would be to go with Mars Hydro again, thanks for the feedback, dimmer looks nice too I don't have one on the TS600

Depends on what you want in a light. Most lights will grow. It's not so much the amount of watts to cover the space but the efficiency of the light measured. A 1.9umol/j won't perform as well as a 2.5 or 3.0 but you pay more. Usually comes with higher quality heatsinking, diodes, functions, etc. Translates to less heat output, maybe waterproofing and so on.

Slightly over budget but

That would cover a 2x4 well. They need 24" of space

I think the QB elite 96's are being phased out but two on a 240w driver would put you at 2.4+umols/j. They also have a 10% discount if you're inclined to DIY. Spectrum on them is great while also needing to be hung 18-24" during flower.

You could make a small aluminum frame and have a sub $300 build.

You can also wire your driver and dimmer outside the tent.

Otherwise there's Mars, Spider, Alibaba, etc but the first two are a real value imo

I have looked around for a while and this is the light I went with. I will have 3 of these in my 2x4. 100 watts each with dimmers. 6 rows of 6000k 10 rows 3000k 3 rows 660nm 2 ir and 2 uv diodes. The Ks-2000(200watt) has 2700k instead of 3000k and 2 boards. You can get one ks-2000 and keep your ts-600. I like the ks-1000 more since I can control each small area more and the 3000k, since I use it for veg(to feed my 3x3 400watthps flower tent)and full autoflower grows at the same time. Best bang for your buck.imho
