Hey, hope everyone is doing well!
Recently I decided to finally try my first grow. I’ve done a lot of reading and searching through forums for additional information on growing. I already have an idea of what my setup is going to look like to start and gain some experience.
Set up:
  • MarsHydro 2x2 grow tent kit that includes
  1. TS 600 LED 100W Full Spectrum Light
  2. 4” inline duct fan, 200CFM
  3. 4” Carbon filter
  4. 32’ flex ducting
  5. Humidity/Temperature thermometer
  6. 4pcs 5-gallon grow bags
  • ILGM Autoflower Classics Mix that includes
  1. AK-47 Auto
  2. Sour Diesel Auto
  3. Super Skunk Auto
  • Coast of Maine Stonington Blend Growers Mix
  • Coast of Maine Sprout Island Organic Seed Starter
  • Coast of Maine Fish Bone Meal
I plan on growing 1 plant first in the 5 gallon grow bag. I’ve read that autos don’t like transplanting, so I plan to germinate and immediately put in the final pot. In doing so, i will add the Seed Starter Soil in the middle of the pot for the seedling to grow in and let it stretch out into the Blend Grower mix as it grows. Is this a good idea?
Coast of Maine states that a 5 gallon pot with their soil will provide 30 days of nutrients. Since I’ve also read that autos tend to flower around the 30 day mark, I would just add some Fish Bone Meal during flowering every other week based on their recommended usage.

Is 5 gallon overkill for an auto? Should I use 3 gallon instead?

Would love to get some feedback and recommendations! I don’t plan on starting my grow till about mid December so I have time to make some adjustments.

Everything looks good the only thing would be with that light I would grow a max of 2 plants in 5 gallon or 3 gallon.
i currently have 1 7gal smart pot and 1 5gal fabric pot in 2.3x2.3 tent and it’s gonna be tight. They are photoperiods tho so I’m trying to maximize the space with this two plants.
Light is a ts1000

Thanks. I only plan to grow 1 at a time for now until i can get comfortable to do 2 and maybe upgrade my light after that. I've been told that it's easier to transplant from a solo cup to the final pot to avoid watering issues, so i will do that instead.

Girls are looking good btw. Can't wait to start over here!

Hi, I have two plants in 7 gallon pots right now trying the Stonington blend for the first time, and they seem to be doing real good. I am using 3 100wt lights and I would only do one plant at a time if I had just one IMO. This is only my 2nd grow so I'm no expert. Good luck to you!

@Badfinger you're more of an expert than me! lol How was your first grow?

@BowHunt3r Good to know. Does what i say sound good as far as providing nutrients? I figure i probably wouldn't have to add any until flower since the soil should have enough during veg with autos

My 1st grow was 7oz 24 g, off two plants. In FF Happy Frog. But I wanted to switch to northeast products. Hence the CoM soil.
A 5 gallon pot of stonington is gonna give you about 30 days of nutrients.

How far are you right now with your grow using the stonington, are they autos? have you had the need to add any amendments so far?

I'm only 18 days in from planting. I'm in 7 gallon pots, so I shouldnt need anything til around day 42. Here's some pics. My Grow

Very nice! Too bad about the gnats, hopefully you can get rid of them. Did that come in the stonington soil?
