First Grow and took a straightforward approach. In a 7 gallon with Roots 420 soil. Let the soil feed her until early flower then gave her CalMag and Buddha Tree PK booster. She seems to be coming along well. Sprouted, July 27th. Nearing completion. Honest feedback? She is so bushy. I trimmed her down substantially many times. Figured once she was long into flower to leave well enough alone.

Mephisto, HubbaBubbaHaze. Sprouted August 11. 3 gallon fabric pot with pro mix HP. I am feeding her Cronk nutrients Bonnie and Clyde lineup. She is chunky.

Barney’s Farm, Pineapple Express. Sprouted August 18. 3 gallon fabric pot with pro mix HP. Cronk Bonnie and Clyde feeding. This is the third grow and I had false confidence so broke off a branch, etc., while doing LST. Didn’t even phase her.

All looking excellent….especially for your first grow! I’d say just keep doing what you’re doing and things will be fine.

As for LST….the branches get more woody with age, and get brittle. Any training you plan on doing should be completed by about day 25-30. Prior to that, the branches are soft and pliable and even a bit rubbery….:smokeout:

Great job so far! Once those branches get woody lst time is over lol. Glad she didn’t Skip a beat! If there are any leaves overlapping or shading bud sites I’d remove those. Other than that you got a great first grow there! Can’t wait to see more!

The Roots 420 soil doing the heavy lifting through early flower is a solid approach for a first run. Lets the plant settle in without worrying about lockout from mixing too many inputs too soon. That PK booster stack hitting right as the fade starts should help the buds firm up nicely in these last few weeks.

The Mephisto HubbaBubbaHaze tends to stay on the chunkier side with the right light penetration through that bushy structure. Leaf tucking early on makes a bigger difference than heavy trimming once the buds are set.

Thank you!. I’m keeping an eye on trichomes and water consumption. I am at day 86 and there’s not an amber trichome in sight on Purple Haze. Water consumption dropped from a gallon every other day to a gallon every three days about two weeks ago. I don’t believe she’s ready, but I would appreciate some input. I think it’s ridiculous how these breeder companies basically lie about their maturity times causing you to go in with false expectations. Ha. Don’t get me wrong! I am not complaining. I am simply pointing out that an eight week maturity claim is a bold face lie.

Different environments, grow styles, and pot size will produce different results….different sizes of plants, that are slower or faster to mature. Basically, the plant will take extra time to fill out the available root zone, if everything is going well.

They’re not lying, they’re just growing differently than you…..

Appreciate the insight and I’m largely playing around here. Again I can’t emphasize enough. I’m not complaining. I’m noticing things. I have six plants four of them at 85 days not an amber trichome in sight. if these plants are maturing in eight weeks, I’ll eat my shoe. Lol

Truth be told, not all trichomes amber up….. and there’s some debate about weather that actually means anything…or if it’s just enzymatic browning.

Personally, I look at all available information that the plant is giving, in order to decide on harvest time.

Has the plant fully matured? Has it swelled? Are the majority of pistils brown and shriveled, excluding foxtail parts. Is the plant foxtailing? Has it slowed its drinking? Etc.

I’ve had sativas go 120+ days and still be clear…

Lastly, consider a two phase harvest. Take the tops, leaving lowers to mature another couple weeks or however long you choose. The top of the plant matures much faster. By picking the ripe buds, you’re directing the plant to give energy to the rest….

All great ideas! I’m already implementing a few of them. Time is on my side. I feel the flowers are still swelling, etc.. I wonder if the elevation would slow growth down a little bit? I’m at about 7200 feet.

The biggest factor slowing you down is the big pot size. The breeder recommendations are usually based on either 3 or 5 gallon pots….

I lived at 6k’ and didn’t notice a real difference than when I lived around sea level..:smokeout:

Yes! The 7 gallon fabric pot. It came with the armoire. The other 5 grows are in 3 & 5 gallon. That seems a likely culprit.

For organic soil, 7 gallon should be considered the smallest pot. You want a big battery of soil for the plant to feed on. Smaller and they will run out of nutrition….
