Autoflowers and how they Reflower. Similar to reveg

So basically I’ve discovered and since been sharing. Been a couple years now. I started with photos and continue with videos. All information is from my own personal grows. There is no where else you will find this information. If getting academic support or god forbid they accept it’s not from an academic. Was easy I’d already of done still trying.

Let’s start with some basic information and go from there. When I say trichomes finish I mean when all trichomes have ripened and are no longer producing thc. Not to be confused with a ripe bud taking at optimal thc. Half of autos don’t mature properly it’s always underdeveloped. This half comes when in the vegetative state. When autos compete trichomes production a signal is sent through the plant. This signal ends Reflower before it begins.

So to Reflower you have to follow trichomes production and never let it finish. Always harvest ripe buds. You can do this either select or in whole but all flower must be removed.

Example I harvest a sativa at 30% amber trichomes. I go selective and remove all buds presenting amber. This will slow down trichomes production. I will harvest over several days and weeks. As I go Reflowing will begin and new pistols and increased trichomes production will start. This also signals all of vegetative growth to begin a new starting a new flower cycle with buds in a variety of stages and development.

Photos shows latest Reflower. It was stunted when I took her outside. The first round didn’t produce much as I didn’t have any plans on keeping it. At the end of the day why not won out.

Welcome to afn.

What are you trying to accomplish with the reflower?

You get a bigger harvest coming from multiple rounds that gets better as it ages.

Very interesting

Welcome to AFN.

I don’t know about reveging for a larger yield… But that could definitely have potential for a seed run if it is viable

Youre saying as the plant ages it produces better buds?

Yes bud that would have been finished and done get a longer and extended cycle. Last select harvest had bigger secondary buds than top node. It did have some issues with development but wasn’t from Reflower. Had a light go out as flower was starting.

Bottom picture is end of first round and top is a secondary bud that’s grown into a top bud.

Im having a hard time visualizing and following this. Do you have pics of each step thru the process. Or maybe like a step by step for dummies like myself.

I understand the benefits of a staggered harvest. Where you harvest the top buds when theyre ripe and leave the lower buds to mature some more before harvesting. Im not understanding the reflower part.

It’s not swelling or just letting the bottom finish. It’s another round of flower separated by harvesting. You can Reflower or regrow buds formed in Flower.

Easy way to think of it is flower never ends. If I do nothing and don’t harvest before the signal all trichomes will finish within hours of each other. That’s the hormone coming from the signal. If I prevent the signal you get continued growth and new development. This can take months to fully finish.

Let me see what pictures I have. If im allowed I have videos posted on YouTube that follow last grow with weekly updates.

You can link the videos instead of uploading.

So I harvest all the buds when trichomes are cloudy and before the signal that ends reflower? Meaning I dont lose any quality on 1st harvest?

During this harvest I cut all the buds off the branches but leave the skeleton “growing”?

Months later the skeleton will produce more buds?

Once you harvest a bud you will need to rehead to the next node. This is what actually activates Reflower. Only it don’t matter how much of flower you harvest. Buds that are underdeveloped will start regrowing. You won’t be able to tell just by looking at these. Meaning at week 12 when she should be done. She still is developing new pistols on buds. You also get buds that will start from nothing but left behind budding points.

The other option is more like your thinking. You harvest all of flower at once. Now a skeleton with very few leaves. Reflower begins immediately after harvest. But like all growing it’s a transition and takes weeks before new buds really start showing and you realize a second round is coming. I’ve seen new growth 21 days into second round that developed with the other buds. This is the easiest but you get better results with a selective harvest.

I could see this being useful for making seeds. Say you had a winning pheno and missed the window to pollinate, you reflower and pollinate at the right time preserving said genetics without having to pheno hunt again. Pretty cool if it actually works!

Never tried. I honestly am not much of a breeder. I can say it is a full second round though. Only it’s not as normal as the first round some things are different. Trichomes are visible from week one. When new buds are created at 21 days into second. They develop in their own stages. Not sure how but they end with the others. So I know it’s different just not sure how much.

So does this happen forever or does the plant kill itself off eventually. Have you been able to keep a plant alive thru more than two harvests? This could be game changing for breeders of autos! @tobe check this thread out, not the same as revenging an auto, but essentially gives you that extra opportunity to pollinate and no clones and no chemicals! I’d be interested to see this in practice. Might have to try it out on of my random plants I have growing around here lol.

This was the only viable thing I could take from this. But the reflowered buds dont look like they are in the best of health. Plant health directly affects the quality of seeds. Im not sold on it being a good strat.

Best of luck. Would be great to see something else come out of this. Yes I’ve done three rounds but I’m still not sure on best way. It’s givin very different yields and results. But it does struggle to keep the roots alive as well. She loses power to keep them healthy while also generating a new round. Just to much change to make any conclusion on why and best way to beat. I would give up but the only good transition was worth it. It had new veg I didn’t get with others.

Don’t be alarmed by the pictures some where experiments. I didn’t always do what was right. I keep certain things ( anomalous) in mind and try to find an edge or beginning. So bud development wasn’t the only goal. I’ve got four others that were Reflowered just to show. Light went out and buds never developed right. Held through to second round.

Personally they remain healthy as long as you know how to transfer from one round to the next. It’s a natural part of how Autoflowers work. It’s not stressed out from removing buds. She quickly heals and changes are explosive. They do become extremely brittle in the second round.

Can I see one of your healthy plants?

Sorry there’s not more photos. Phone broke around that time and only pictures I sent in messenger where recovered.

Cant really see anything on 10. The outside, 8, and 9 are of the reflower or prior to 1st harvest? The veg plants are autos or photos?
