Sawney Bean Grow Shows 2023 Bob's first go at a SOG - Sawney's SOS grown in BioTabs

Sawney Bean Grow Shows 2023
............I think it's beautiful Bob................. :wiz:
The difference is remarkable and also kinda frightening brother!!

Some defoliation is always recommended, but this, damn... this is some hardcore stuff! :crying:

Don't you fear having a much lower yield this way?

Taking away all of those solar panels seems counter-effective, as they normally say light = weight and instead of absorping all the light, it now shines through and is wasted on the floor/bottom of your tent. I have seen this way of defoliation since the legal USA market start thriving, but always wondered if there is any science to back it up... did anyone do a side by side grow with clones, with and without this extreme schwazzing?

Just thinking out loud here.

Plants looking healthy and lush Bob! Keep it up :d5:

I agree completely mate, leaves are the plants solar panels and the more you have the merrier, but I'm only growing for myself and really wanted to try this "Schwazzing" out.
We're four days on and look for yourself, these ladies have recovered fine and now they don't crowd each other anymore...
I really don't know if there's scientific study been done about the subject, but I've seen some great results with my mate @Vapo and he's been pushing me to do it, so...
I know I'm a wimp  No really...It took a lot of guts getting over it, going so far with the defoliation!!
I was nauseated when I finished, actually I finished because I became nauseated looking at the havoc I created...While thinking about the same things you just said..

Anyway, I've started another PK Booster Compost Tea brew this morning. I sticked to my previous recipe and will most likely be diluting it from 10L to 15L, instead of the 10L to 20L I did last time. I feel they can take it :smoker1:
As you can see above 👆, the soil is very dry at the surface, but mere millimeters below this there's one healthy soil to be found. Not to wet, but certainly not dry. And I've seen small compost worms emerging from almost every pot, so I know they are busy keeping the soil nice and airy.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I've not been posting my regular time lapse, but next update I'll sure make up for that 🤞

Regards,

Bob :toke:

I've sent you a dm while ago. If you're up for it, I'm game
And you know, I still owe you another WW sample mate :pass:

Still a lot of empty spots in the growroom, where light is hitting nada../the floor

But ye I understand your point of view mate, just trying things out is the way to go anyway!
Your ladies do look healthy though! I just can't stop wondering what they turned out like with a bit more leafs haha

And indeed Vapo is using that hardcore treatment with a lot of success!:toke:

S.o.S. Day 42 - PK Booster Compost Tea treatment
So yeah, maybe a bit to much defoliating. But that's water under the bridge
Speaking of water, I can tell you they are all witches. Dunked them in the mix until they stopped breathing...

All these ladies got the same treatment... 🧙‍♀️

Not much was left in the bucket...and I started with a little more then 15L. The tube is the syphon to empty the tray beneath the pots.

Everyone back in their spot...Just a couple more pictures...

Fresh pistils are still forming guys :clapper: and I predict an explosion in the coming days.

I dare not touch these ladies...Look at that frost and I'm not even using my macro lens on the phone

After the dunking I needed to adjust the values for the light and extraction fan as VPD went straight down into the 0.80's... Ok, I did just fill the pots with 15L tea and this will have an impact on the humidity....
Extraction went from 6% to 19%, this lowered the co² concentration significantly, but we're still 200-250ppm higher then they should have without the generator. Still don't know if it really works, but it doesn't cost that much to make it yourself...approx. 5€/month if even that, so why not
Also raised the light from 55% to 60%. This because the plants have so much nutrients, water and oxygen available that they can benefit from the extra fotons.
This resulted in a VPD which gave me the fasted growth in the past. Just what they need, no? :cool1:

We're nearing the end of todays post my friends :crying: But this also means that I have another time lapse for you guys. Five days have past since my last confession, no that's not right...Euh, 5 days since the last time lapse :pop:
Duration = 116 hours, speed = 60fps. So please enjoy this extra long one and Antonio, just look away for this one bro. I know, it's breaking your hart to see this, but know I would never do that to your genetics. I promise 🥰 🤞

Regards,

Bob :toke:

A question for you Bob if you don't mind ?
With this soaking treatment, how come the plants don't suffer from overwatering ?
I mean, a lot of people have problem with this, so what is at work here ?
😍
Your plants are so beautifully healthy, it's a pleasure to watch your grow !
