Hey guys,

I am currently planning my second grow and I wanted to give Coco coir a try.

I was planning on using AN Sensi Coco Grow + Bloom for nutes and was wondering if a root nutrient for the first few weeks was necessary or not?

I was thinking either Voodoo Juice or GH Rapid start rooting enhancer.

Is it needed at all or not?

Thanks!

I am working an a tutorial on that subject.

Another very solid piece of instruction that I have already learned another golden nugget for and will be dialing in my ph for peat a bit more. Plus how many people this could help I'd give more rep if I could

@Mañ'O'Green if my nutrients manufacturer recommends between 5.8 and 6.3 and says its good for soiless hydro and coco should I be trying to dial it in to 6.3 every time or should I do as I have been since I went with the nutes, which is letting it vary occasionally but only from 6.0 to 6.3, I used to have good results and am getting back to better ones again but if I can improve by something as simple as that I will be all over it. I have already previously cut back my nutes from what was already less then recommended to what you suggest and I was before but proof has made me further a believer I appreciate any direction. Also I apologise if this should've went into the thread you mentioned, it's just I didn't want to ask a question before it was done and interrupt the exchange of valuable information.

The PH you feed at is determined more by the medium first then the nutrient brand.

PH for soil is 6.4 - 6.7
PH for Peat is 6.3 -6.4
PH for Coco is 5.8 to 6.2
PH for hydro is 5.8 to 6.2

You should be using nutrients designed for the media you are using. In soil and peat the band is narrower for good uptake. In hydro it is better to let it move around in the range slowly.

OK awesome thanks for clarifying that's a change I can make really easily. Thank you so much for the information, I learned so much from a couple of your threads already. I will be passing this information on to the people in my local grow community. Honestly this site and community has been an absolute game changer for me. I'm in debt to this entire community and I appreciate the people runningthe site who do so much more then just moderate. :worship::cheers::toke::growing:

I'm a soil grower......the only things I strongly believe in are proper PH'd water, good VPD (temp to humidity rates) and RECHARGE.

RECHARGE really helps root development, lots of things out there are hype. Recharge is legit.

Most growers flood their plants with excessive nutes, imo. I've used too many nutes in the past, I learned my lesson. Look at the leaves on their plants!!!!!

YMMV

Since the OP is asking about growing hydroponically with salt-based fertilizers in coco coir, I would strongly recommend against adding a microbial product like this. Microbial products will be killed off instantly when the chelated salts in Advanced Nutrients are fed.

If the grow style depends upon microlife to break down unchelated nutrients for absorption by the roots, I would agree with your recommendation, but I think for hydroponics and coco coir, the money would be better spent on other items.

I stated I'm a soil grower from the get go. I'm not familiar with coco, have 2 boxes of it but never bothered with it. Family that grow advised me against coco.
So you just decided to post some soil advice in a coco/hydro thread?

This right here is why so many people are confused on this forum and blow cash at the grow shop on useless products that don't work for their setup.

I mean for God sake, this is the coco coir subforum...

I really enjoyed Rapid Start and used it through the whole grow, it is expensive though.

My favorite root stimulator is Liquid Karma from Botanicare as it also doubles as a foliar containing kelp, humic acid, and other ingredients.

Would I say it's necessary? I think there is trial and error with nutrient lines and it comes down to personal opinion. I don't like my current fertilizer all that much for my smoke compared to another brand and I've seen other growers feel this way with other fertilizers.

You might like Nectar For The Gods or the GH Lucas formula or Mega Crop but how you manage your entire environment is still important. I really like root simulators and do think they work but you should try what interest you.

My favorite combo for Coco and what I'm going back to is Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Bloom and Liquid Karma with a 5.8-6.2ph swing. I'm looking at adding Tribus with my current Beneficials as well. @Master_gRoshi does well and gets excellent roots.

Think I was half asleep posting about soil in a coco forum,
my bad and apologies.

Deleted the posts.

Hey @low_and_slow - so does that mean if I powdered my root ball/transplant hole with Mykos and Azos, I'm basically gonna kill everything off as soon as I feed them fox farm bottled nutes (Grow Big/Tiger Bloom)?
