I ran across some sticky-trap spray and decided to make a giant Yellow Sticky Trap..

Heavy duty cardboard tube (from my reflective foil roll), eye hooks, primer/sealer, bright yellow semi-gloss, sticky-trap spray, hang and wait...
I caught a few while making it so I'm hoping it'll work...
How well do things usually do...?

That's awesome dude, totally something I would do!!!....Hopefully it catches them all:d5:I had some black fly buzzing round my medium last year I think and got loads of them with the yellow rectangles......But I had them closer to the top of the pots, if you don't get any at first .....maybe try that?.....Happy growing dude:pass:

I've only ever got these indoor if I let my media get sopping wet it seems. and I think your giant trap will work great

GENIUS!!! Great friggin idea. Seriously employing this in the future. Funny thing, I had thought about this, like maybe using spray adhesive as a DIY sticky-trap, not realizing they have sticky-trap spray, which stays sticky unlike spray adhesive. VERY cool, thank you.

I bet you paid the same for your materials that I paid for a box of 5 cards!

I had everything laying around except the spray, I think it was 12.00 at a Family Center hardware store...
It was a spur of the moment thing so I just stuck it up in the back for now...
Hanging it by myself with all the plants in the way was the biggest problem, no place to hold on to the thing...lol...
I hung it by one end and grabbed it with my stick w/hook on one end and pulled it over... Simple...
This will be a permanent feature in my room now even if it only catches a few flies...
I'll update in a couple weeks or so...

Next time I might invest in 4" PVC but the cardboard tube was free (super strong stuff)...

I think the cardboard tube thing is brilliant so you can chuck it if/when it gets all coated with flies. a PVC one you'd have to wash, recoat maybe repaint, etc... LOVE this idea as a whole and I will absolutely employ this in the future, THANK YOU

I hope "Mothra" does not bring "Godzilla" when she spots your tube

Great DIY!
