O folks,k i've been battling these dirty little bastard russet mites over a year now just found something that completely eradicates them, along with spider mites and any other soft bodied bugs, sulphur powder, i have mixed two tea spoons worth into 1 litre of water and shaken the mister and sprayed my plants, the good thing is it's beneficial to plants health plus safe to use if your not inhaling the stuff obviously, and more so especially at this time of year it stops mold, fungus, pm, etc, etc etc. so i'll update in a day or so see if they are all dead.
As is with most of my posts, what could possibly go wrong :eyebrows: :biggrin:

I use sulper to smoke out my greenhouse in springtime before I plant anything inside. I close all windows and the door after lighting 500gr on fire in a metal can. (It get's liquid when heated!!).
The sulpher fumes react with the oxygen and form sulphuric acid on about every surface inside. This will kill of 99.999% of all nasties and then some.
After three days I open up the greenhouse, air it out and she's good to go for another season.
You can also order nematodes --> Steinernema carpocapsae. These kill off every pest I've come across which starts off or has any phase in the soil...
Or if you need a direct reaction you can use Spinosad. This is an amazing product, biological and doesn't create habituation in the pests.

Lady bugs! If they are in your grow area, no other insects will be. They are predator insects and will eat all nuisance insects in their area.
With all due respect lady bugs most likely won’t solve the problem. I’ve gone the lady bug route before and have released thousands of them in small areas with minor infestations and the pest problems always got worse. If you want to go the natural route I would look into predatory mites.
