On the what's new section I always see others thanking members for things. How do you do it? I swear I'm literate in the dark arts of forum workings. But that one keeps escaping me.

There is the main forum areas for threaded discussion like this one. You may also be seeing the profile posts. They're typically at the bottom of the "new posts" when you hit that button.
If someone gives me "rep" points I usually say thanks in their profile.

Same obviously. Was driving me nuts. I think it’s cool to be able to see members that give reps publicly. Not because of the “reps”, just that they’re supportive. If that makes sense.
